StepperControl is a next generation antenna tuner control unit. StepperControl was created from the ground up with all new modern technology including a
RaspBerry Pi MicroComputer, a modern multi-threaded operating system and a complete web-based interface that can be accessed from your shack or from anywhere there's an internet connection, including your phone.
The combination of the StepperControl interface and the latest SSAT2K models (Symmetric Semi-Automatic Tuners) can be used to create a hassle free antenna tuning solution that is at home in your QTH or remotely controlled from anywhere in the world. The StepperControl unit provides control of 3 separate stepper motors
and 4 separate relay circuits. The unit is generic in design and can be used with any stepper motor controlled antenna tuning unit. This allows any amateur to flex their
own creative muscles with their own stepper motor controlled antenna tuners, or use either the SSAT2K, LSAT2K or SSAT2K-AW units for precise control of your antenna tuning needs.
Because StepperControl is a full blown micro-computer, complete access to the operating file systems are available. Direct access to the OS and/or the file system is limited to a direct connection to the unit, or via highly secured SSH and SFTP access protocols that you can control. Software updates for the StepperControl unit are easy and can be done over the internet or directly from your shack computer. StepperControl uses a filesystem based database for all persistent information. The database can be backed up and stored away for safe keeping and can be restored in the future if necessary.
StepperControl is a completely modular system. Each component inside the StepperControl is individually replaceable. This includes the micro-controller, power supplies, stepper motor controllers and relays. This makes servicing the StepperControl unit particularly easy in the event that a particular component fails.
Here's a link to the current version of the StepperControl Operator's Manual.
The StepperControl antenna tuner control unit is web-based and built on top of a modern micro computer and a modern multi-threaded operating system. The interface allows for the creation of any number of memorized operating frequencies. Stepper motors can be single stepped, or commanded to run until stopped (button down/button up) as well as controlled through a slider control interface, which allows large adjustments with a single click of the mouse.
StepperControl also has the capability to control up to 4 electro-mechanical relays from the main display. This allows for impedance changes, switching of fixed capacitance, even the switching of antenna output ports.
The StepperControl interface implements front end security with login and password authentication for secure access. No Desktop sharing is required!!!
StepperControl can be accessed without the need for internet access. The unit has a USB-C port for direct communication with Mac, Windows and Linux computers. Once connected, the Wi-Fi capabilities of the unit can be configured for your network.
StepperControl provides 2 RJ45 connectors for connection to an SSAT2K or SSAT2K-AW. The unit is powered via a 12 or 24 volt power supply, which is provided with the unit. Variable voltage controllers are embedded in the StepperControl unit and can be adjusted to guarantee proper operating voltage for the stepper motors over long cable runs.
